What costs money, and what does not

DeckBuilder and Stage Plot Viewer are free. Not free trials, not free for now: free. ProducerDash and PrompterFlow are the two you pay for, and you pay once. Both come with a 7 day trial so you can find out whether they earn their place first.

When you buy PrompterFlow, you are buying a license to use Version 1 of it. That includes every 1.x update we release, at no extra cost, for as long as version 1 is supported. There is no subscription and no recurring charge. If a major Version 2 ships one day, it is a separate and entirely optional purchase. You are never forced to upgrade, your version 1 license keeps working, and version 1 owners get 50% off version 2.

How many Macs it covers

One license covers 2 Macs at a time for that app. You sign in inside the app on each Mac to activate it. PrompterFlow can go further: extra seats are $49.99 each from your dashboard, and every seat adds one more Mac under the same account.

Stage Plot Viewer is the exception in the other direction: it has no sign in and no limit at all. Download it and run it on as many Macs as you like.

Signing in, and why we ask

You sign in inside the app to activate that Mac, and that activation sticks. There are no activation codes. The sign in is how we know who you are, so you have a direct line to us and your apps can get updates, and it keeps one download from being passed around forever. On PrompterFlow it is also the anti piracy lock, and the reason we can sell it once instead of billing you every month.

After that activation, the app works offline. You do not need internet to run it. When the app does have a connection it quietly confirms your license, and if it cannot get an answer, because you are offline or because something on our end is down, it keeps you licensed and carries on. The only thing that ends a license is a clear answer from our server that this Mac is no longer activated, which is what happens when you deactivate it yourself. A PrompterFlow trial is the exception, because a trial is not an activation and it checks in with us each time it starts, so keep that Mac online until you buy.

Every so often the app may ask you to sign in again. That is your login session expiring, which is a normal thing that logins do. It is not your license, and the app keeps running.

Some features reach the internet when it is there, like the livestream indicator, update checks, and cloud sync for your service log. None of them are needed to run the app, and none of them affect your license.

Moving to a new Mac

If a Mac dies, gets replaced, or you simply want to move the app, you free that slot yourself. The surest way is your account dashboard on producerdash.com: find the Mac under My Devices and remove it, and the slot frees up straight away. That works even if the Mac is broken, wiped, or long gone. You can also sign out from inside the app, which frees the slot when the app can reach us, and tells you if it could not.

Then sign in on the new Mac to activate it there. You can move it whenever you need to, and you do not have to contact us to do it.

If ProducerDash ever goes away

This one matters to us, because it is the reason these apps exist in the first place.

Your installed copy does not depend on us to keep running. If our servers went away tomorrow, every Mac you have already activated stays licensed and keeps running. You would lose the parts that are online by their nature, like update downloads and cloud sync, but the app itself is yours and it keeps working.

Two things do need us: activating a Mac that is not activated yet, and moving a seat from one Mac to another.

And if we ever wind this down, we will publish a final build that does not need activation at all, so you are never locked out of software your church relies on.

When access can be revoked

We will only ever revoke access for one of two reasons: an app is pirated or shared beyond what your account covers, or a PrompterFlow payment is reversed or charged back as fraud. We are not going to switch off software you rely on, and there is nothing to charge back on the free apps.

Separately, and rarely, a Mac can lose its activation for a technical reason rather than a decision by us. A hardware repair can change how we recognize the machine, for example. That is not a revocation, it is a mistake. Sign in again to sort it out, or email us and we will put it right.
